Did You Know Frankincense Oil Had ALL of These Amazing Benefits?
Frankincense, for many, is the ONE essential oil that is a must-have. It is known for having strong comforting properties, and helps induce a feeling of mental relaxation and relief from stress.
Frankincense has been actively bought, sold, and traded in the Arabian Peninsula region for over 5000 years. When archaeologists discovered King Tut’s tomb back in 1922, they found alabaster jars designed just for holding Frankincense oil. Ancient Egyptians made liberal use of this oil to help them continue looking as young as possible.
Derived mostly from boswellia sacra trees, Frankincense is harvested by slashing the bark and letting the resin bleed out and harden. It is then scraped off the bark in tear-shaped droplets.
The actual oil that is used in aromatherapy is prepared by steam-distilling the raw resin, or by using a non-volatile solvent (oil or fat base) to do the extraction.
The highest quality frankincense oil is somewhat clear and silvery with a slight green tinge. The most common (and least expensive) oils are more of a brownish-yellowish color.
